How does the Trip Computer work? And why are there two separate trip memories?
The trip computer gives you information on the current and average fuel mileage, speed, fuel range, and driving time. The trip computer is equipped with two fully automatic memories. The single-trip memory, Trip 1, stores the information from the time the ignition is turned on until it is turned off. If the trip is continued within 2 hours from the time the ignition was turned off, the new information will be included until the trip is interrupted for more than 2 hours. The Total-trip memory, Trip 2, is not reset automatically, and it allows the driver to evaluate the driving data for the entire period between manual resets. To toggle between readings, press the up and down switches on the end of the windshield wiper lever. Press the button on the bottom of the stalk to switch between Trip 1 and Trip 2. Also, to reset the values press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.

Are TPMS systems impacted by weather changes?
Yes, tire pressure is affected by temperature changes and thus tire pressure monitoring systems can be affected by temperature changes.

When will the TPMS system provide me with a warning?
The tire pressure indicator in the instrument cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too low or if there is a system malfunction.  These characteristics can change and cause a tire pressure warning if the tire pressure in one or more tires is too low;  the tire has structural damage; or  the tire pressure was changed or the wheels rotated or replaced but the TPMS was not reset.  An indirect tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) compares the tire tread circumference and vibration characteristics of the individual tires.  If the pressure decreases in one or more tires, this is indicated in the instrument cluster with a warning symbol.

Can I reset the TPMS system or do I need to bring my car in tot the service department?
The steps required to reset the TPMS system in your specific vehicle are explained in your owner's manual.  You can always schedule a service appointment for us to review the TPMS warning light.

The Fuel Door on my Audi is stuck, how can I open it?
Gently pushing the fuel door will release it.  During cold weather the door can get frozen, pushing on it can help get it open.  There is also an emergency release pull under the right rear quarter panel.  Refer to your owners manual for details on your specific Audi model.  If this fails to solve the issue, call our service department.

I own a Diesel engine, and my Particulate Filter went on, what does this mean?
TDI® Vehicles: This occurs when the particulate filter is becoming clogged. If the Particulate Filter illuminates, drive for 15 minutes with selector lever in S position at a minimum of 37 mph and engine speed of approximately 2000 RPM. Temperature increase that will result from this can burn off the soot in the filter. The symbol will switch off when the cleaning is successful. If the symbol does not clear, and the MIL turns on please see your nearest Audi dealer. Note: under normal conditions the filter will clean itself with no intervention.

When it is cold outside, I notice a small indicator light appears when I start the vehicle, what does it mean?
The diesel engine utilizes a glow plug system to assist in starting the vehicle.  This system is temperature controlled.  When it is cold outside, the engine may take a little longer to glow and then you can start the vehicle easily.  This will vary depending on the temperature.

I went to a gas station to refill my diesel tank and the filler nozzle fit into the tank, but did not release fuel.   Why would this happen and what should I do?
TDI® Vehicles: TDI clean diesel vehicles come with a "misfuel inhibitor" flap designed to help reduce the risk of a customer misfiling their TDI vehicle with gasoline. The flap will only be released by nozzles with the diameter specific to a diesel pump nozzle. Smaller diameter gasoline nozzles or other types of nozzles will not release the hooks. Nozzles that are out of specification, worn, or damaged may not properly fit into the filling neck and will not allow refueling. The customer should try rotating the pump nozzle 90° which may assist in the event of a worn or damaged nozzle. If refueling is still not possible the customer should try another pump or fueling station.

How can I set my doors to all open with press of key?

A4, A5, Q5: The driver can determine the functions for the power locking in the radio or MMI. Press the 'Car' function button, Select 'Central Locking'. You can then determine which doors should be unlocked when you unlock the vehicle with ther remote control (e.g., passenger's door, rear doors, trunk/tailgate). There is also a side selective unlocking option available that can be set to fit your needs. You can continue to unlock all the doors and the rear lid as before. Press the opening button on the master key twice. Auto locking can also be switched on and off.

Is there anything I should know about performance tires?
Performance tires are designed for optimum performance and handling in warm climates. They are not suitable for cold, snowy, or icy weather conditions. If you drive under those circumstances, you should equip your vehicle with four all-season or winter tires, which offer better traction under those conditions. We suggest you use the recommended winter or all-season tires specified for your car, or their equivalent. These high-performance tires also have a lower aspect ratio that aids performance and handling; however, in order to avoid tire, rim or vehicle damage, it is important that the inflation pressure is regularly checked and maintained at recommended levels. Serious wheel and tire damage may occur if the vehicle is operated on rough or damaged road surfaces or upon encountering road debris or obstacles. Please also remember in making your selection that, while these tires deliver responsive handling, they may ride less comfortably and make more noise than other choices. Finally, these tires may wear more quickly than other choices. For more information on all of these topics, please consult the owner's manual, or call our service department.
